Wip and a Ghastlie Winner

Went to Meeting House Fabrics again this weekend for the  first of two Belsnickel classes. We made the body, sculpted the arms, and prepped the face for painting.

 I don't like the way he's standing, so I'll have to add more stuffing and make some  re-adjustments.

.  Next week we'll put the finishing touches on him. Come back next week and see how he turns out!

I came home from a long day's work tonight and found this waiting for me...

Nan Slaughter of  Pots &Pins made this wonderful Ghastlie  apron.  Not only is Nan a very talented seamstress and wonderful cook, she writes books too! Be still my heart she included  one of her very own Halloween books, along with a spool of Presencia thread!
Would it wrong if I prance around the house wearing my  fancy schamancy apron  after work tomorrow?

Wool Pumpkin

A  few weeks ago my sister and I took a dimensional wool class at the Meeting House Fabrics, a local quilt shop. Kathy Gaul was the teacher. She is a wonderful designer whose company Meeting House Hill Designs. is based in Colorado. Kathy grew up in Leominster Mass. and comes home every October to visit family, lecture,and teach classes.  We were lucky enough to spend a  Saturday learning the basic of assembling this  cute wall hanging.  I haven't work too much in wool so I'm quite pleased how this has turned out.

I love the corn and the white pumpkin. I plan to frame it eventually.

This weekend  we are heading back to the Meeting House to make a primitive Bellsnickel, which is an old fashion Santa.

We Have Power Again!

Yup, I'm sitting in a warm and well lit house! On Saturday, October 29, we were hit with a Nor'easter and we lost power about six o'clock. Out side you could hear the trees popping, cracking, and crashing to the ground! We had an unusually warm hot  fall this year so the trees have held on to their leaves. Leaves on trees and wet heavy snow results in very dangerous conditions. 

Mark and I went to bed and suddenly we heard a extremely loud crash! Got up and looked out our window and saw that part of a maple tree had fallen. Both Mark and James went outside to survey the damage, they kept saying "You got to come see this!"  Nope, not me, it was  too scary out there! I woke up the next morning at 5:30 to take the dogs out. It was eerily quiet, no sound, not even birds chirping.

Six days without power, made me appreciate the simple things in life.
There are still many people without power tonight. Please keep them in you thoughts and prayers.
